Bullet Points

• The non-profit organization I will be working with is called Dios y Libros

• Dios y Libros sends books to schools in 3rd world countries to schools that cannot afford reading material for their students

• Mexico can still be considered a 3rd world country today

• A school in Queretaro, Mexico is dedicated to children who have disabilities, such as a learning ability, or autism do not have the funds to buy school supplies or books for the children

• Mexico only has schools for special needs kids in large cities such as Mexico City

• The Mexican government hasn’t set up any special needs schools for kids with disabilities in small cities or towns

• Twenty-seven million children that attend school in Mexico, ten percent have disabilities

• In resent studies, researchers have found that students with learning disabilities learn the material taught in the classroom when presented visually to them

• In another study, researchers found that reading was one of the harder subjects to understand, but with books to read the material was easier for students with learning disabilities to understand the material.

• Since reading has been scientifically proven to help a child with disabilities to improve their learning abilities it is critical that we donate books to the school that cannot afford books themselves

• The end project will concise of a library filled with Spanish books in a school that is dedicated to teaching special kids with special needs.
